Manaf Gardner Associates (MGA) is a premier consulting firm specialising in Human Capital and Executive Education. Established in 2025 by Datuk (Dr) Nora Manaf and Professor Dr Colyn Gardner, MGA brings unparalleled expertise to the evolving landscape of talent management and professional development.

Our founders bring with them extensive industry experience and their combined leadership ensures MGA remains at the forefront of executive education and human capital strategy.

Most recently, Datuk Nora served as the Chief Human Capital Officer of Maybank, Malaysia’s largest financial institution, for 16 years, while Professor Colyn led the Asian Banking School for nearly a decade, transforming it into ASEAN’s largest provider of specialised banking training programmes.

Professor Dr Colyn Gardner

Chief Executive Officer

Professor Dr Colyn Gardner is a globally respected executive educator and thought leader in the financial services sector. As Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Manaf Gardner Associates, he brings over four decades of experience advising senior leaders and shaping organisational performance worldwide.

He began his career in banking with NatWest and went on to build a 15-year career as an investment banker in the City of London before founding DC Gardner Group PLC in 1984, the banking training consultancy which grew into the world’s leading banking training organisation and a main board listed company on the UK Stock Market, with offices across major global financial centres. Following its acquisition by Euromoney, the business remains a benchmark for high-quality executive education in banking.

Colyn has conducted executive development programmes for senior directors of leading global banks, presented at international banking conferences and was a consultant to many of the world's largest banks and organisations, including the World Bank, the IMF, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency and the Central Bank of Nigeria. He was also a regular contributor of articles to international financial magazines, editor-in-chief for some sixty distance learning workbooks on banking subjects and has co-authored two books in corporate finance.

Following the sale of DC Gardner, he further distinguished himself in academia. He holds an MSc in Financial Economics and a PhD in Corporate Finance from Bangor University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Banker Institute. As Chief Executive of the Management Centre at Bangor University, he played a key role in creating the Chartered Banker MBA, the world’s only dual qualification MBA in banking.

In 2016, Colyn was the Founding CEO of the Asian Banking School (ABS) before stepping down in December 2024 after almost 10 years. At the time of his leaving, he had built ABS into the largest specialised provider of quality banking training programmes in the ASEAN region, and a sustainable and resilient business with a strong financial position.

Professor Dr Colyn Gardner has had a long and illustrious career entirely immersed in banking. He has been a practising banker, a banking consultant to many of the world’s largest banks and organisations, an innovative training course developer, a professor of banking, a successful Conference Speaker on banking topics and a corporate client of banks.

Datuk (Dr) Nora Manaf

Datuk (Dr) Nora Manaf is a qualified Chartered Accountant, Chartered Banker (CIB, Scotland), Master Professional (IHRP, Singapore), Chartered Fellow CIPD (CIPD, UK), Strengths Coach (Gallup) and Black Belt Sustainability Practitioner. Nora is an alumni of Harvard (HBS AMP), Herriot-Watt (PhD by Practice), Cornell (School of Industrial Relations) and UiTM (School of Accountancy).

She is an appointed Adjunct Professor of prestigious Universities; the University Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), as well as appointed CEO@Faculty of UUM, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and UiTM.

Nora holds various Board membership; Board of Trustees for Yayasan Khazanah (Khazanah Foundation), Board of Investment (UiTM), Advisory Board (Yayasan Peneraju), Asian Advisory Board (Harvard Business Publishing), Chief People Officer Board (i4CP), Board of Examiners (Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers), Asia Pacific Industry Advisory Panel (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), University-Industry Advisory Council of UUM and Academic Advisory Board Member of Putra Business School (PBS). Nora is also a member of the National Labour Advisory Council (NLAC).

Datuk (Dr) Nora was conferred the Global Women Leadership Lifetime Award 2024, national-level LAWA CHRO Champion Award 2023, national-level Woman Beacon of Light Award 2016, Outstanding Global Islamic Women Manager Icon Excellence Award (2023) and Top 50 Impact Lifetime Achievement Award for Women Excellence (2021) by KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific.

Nora is also immediate Past President of the Malaysian Commercial Banks Association (MCBA), Chairman (HRNG), Council Member (MEF), Co-Chair (ARC) and Council Member (IAC).

Datuk Nora was also appointed as the Project Champion in 2024 for the Industry’s Future Skills Framework (FSF) that was launched by the BNM Governor and HR Minister in July 2024. She is Founder Sponsor of the acclaimed eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN programme and inaugural First EXCO Sponsor of Maybank’s Sustainability Culture and Governance Pillar. Nora is also Founder Council of the Malaysia Chapter of the 30 Percent Club, Executive Sponsor for Maybank’s Women Mentor Women Council, as well as a Mentor for the ICAEW-TalentCorp Women in Leadership Programme. Recently, she was featured in the “Top 10 CHROs to Follow on LinkedIn” by NewInAsia.com, the leading platform for business insights across Asia.

The globally recognised wisdom of Culture Eats Strategy for Breakfast is proven under the leadership of Datuk (Dr) Nora Manaf in her work alongside the Group President CEO and his Top Team’s significant Milestone Leap30 Transformation of a leading ASEAN Bank and Malaysia’s largest company by market capitalisation listed on the Malaysian Stock Exchange, Maybank. In her capacity of Group Chief Human Capital Officer appointed in September 2008, Nora influenced and ensured the key success factors of a Business strategy were enabled and targeted Results realized. This was captured in a Case Study written and published by the Singapore Management University in 2019 titled “Maybank: Organisational Transformation through Human Resources”.

He founded several companies that have listed on the London Stock Exchange, including DC Gardner Group plc, which he built to be at the time the world’s largest banking training consultancy with offices in many countries and three residential training centres, the UK’s largest outplacement consultancy, Coutts Consultancy Group; and the UK’s 2nd largest accountancy training business, ATC, and later sold to Euromoney in 1992.

He also has had a distinguished academic career. Colyn was Professor and CEO of the Management Centre at Bangor Business School where he was responsible for spearheading the creation of the Chartered Banker MBA degree, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Sunway University and Dean of their Business School and Visiting Professor at Bayes Business School, City St. George’s, University of London.

Colyn has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wales, Swansea, and received both his Master of Science in Financial Economics and Doctor of Philosophy in Corporate Finance (specialising in behavioural decision making in capital investment theory) from the University of North Wales, Bangor. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Banker Institute, Fellow of the London Institute of Banking and Finance, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Honorary Fellow of the University of Wales and Honorary Fellow of Bangor University.

Dr Huw Gardner

Director, Business Development

Dr. Huw Gardner is an executive education specialist and HRDC-accredited trainer, with expertise in geopolitical risk and the banking opportunities driven by emerging sectors and industry disruption.

He has worked with financial institutions in the UK, USA, and Malaysia, most recently serving as an investment banker at Maybank with a focus on multinational clients. Huw designs, develops and delivers training programmes that are case study-driven, focusing on real-world scenarios and delivering highly practical, application-focused outcomes. He holds an MBA in International Finance from the University of Colorado and a PhD in ESG and Infrastructure Financing from AEU, grounding his practical training approach in rigorous academic and global financial principles.

Joel Kornreich

Executive Director

Joel Kornreich has over 30 years’ of governance and executive experience in consumer, commercial and Islamic Banking, in multiple countries throughout Asia, Europe and North America.

Former CEO of a publicly listed banking group (Alliance Banking Group) and former MD of consumer business franchises in multiple countries for Citigroup, Joel has led businesses in Singapore, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Belgium, Spain, Greece and Russia.

He brings a strong track record in business transformation and restructuring, crisis management and compliance improvements, digital development, sales and service culture development. Joel is an Accredited HRD Corp Trainer.

Ashley Sarafina

Operations Managers

Ashley manages the operational and programme delivery functions of Manaf Gardner Associates.

She works closely with the leadership team to coordinate client engagement, programme development, and the internal processes that support MGA’s executive education initiatives. She also supports coordination with MGA’s Associates. She brings experience in operations and client-facing roles across service-driven environments, with a strong focus on coordination, organisation, and delivery excellence.

Junita Rashid

Director of Partnerships

Junita Rashid works across strategic partnerships and ecosystem development, with more than a decade of experience spanning corporate innovation, digital ecosystems, and brand building.

She began her career at Maxis before moving into corporate start-up environments, contributing to the growth of emerging platforms in the e-wallet and BNPL space under Axiata Group. Junita later worked on incubated start-ups developed by Petronas, where she served as a venture builder supporting early-stage initiatives through partnership development and ecosystem building.

She is currently Partnership Director at Manaf Gardner Associates, where she leads strategic collaborations aimed at expanding the organisation’s reach and strengthening its presence within the executive education landscape. Junita also serves as Partnership Director at Larenme, an emerging PR and media firm recognised for challenging traditional communications models by delivering integrated storytelling, experiential campaigns, and strategic media platforms.

In addition, she is the founder of Boss Mama Malaysia, a maternity brand created to support modern mothers through thoughtfully designed products and community-driven initiatives. Under her leadership, the brand has grown into a recognised name in the maternity space and was awarded Best Maternity Bra Brand by Parenthood.

Across both corporate and entrepreneurial environments, Junita’s work focuses on building meaningful partnerships, fostering collaborative ecosystems, and connecting ideas, organisations, and communities.

Rafizah Abdul Rahman

Director, Corporate Communication

Rafizah Abdul Rahman is responsible for building and maintaining MGA’s brand identity and reputation, which involves managing internal and external communications across all platforms. She oversees and contributes to the development of collaterals, which are produced in-house, and works as part of a team on programme and content development.

Rafizah brings with her over 32 years of creative work experience; with 18 of the most recent years as a Communication and Branding professional for Tenaga Nasional Berhad, the Institute of Bankers Malaysia (IBBM or now known as the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers - AICB), the Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC) and the Asian Banking School (ABS). Her last task at IBBM was as a member of the working committee for the restructuring of the institute and the transformation of the banking education landscape. She then led the rebranding initiatives and launch of the ABS and AICB logos in 2014, and then built the ABS brand as part of the founding team when she joined them at the start of 2016.

Prior to that, Rafizah was well known in the Malaysian art world as a gallerist, curator, consultant, exhibition organiser and all-round friend of the arts. She has also worked for two local private colleges in student affairs.

Norhaliza Ibrahim

Associate Consultant

Norhaliza is a seasoned HR leader in the Oil & Gas industry with over 36 years of experience in strategic human resources leadership, talent development, and employee well-being. She has successfully led high-impact initiatives across global operations, including mergers and acquisitions, as well as diversity and inclusion programmes.

As a Certified Solution-Focused Coach (CSFC), Norhaliza also holds additional credentials in Ontological and Health Coaching. Her deep interest in positive psychology shapes a practical, results-driven coaching approach, grounded in a deep commitment to both personal and professional transformation. She is passionate about unlocking human potential and has guided countless individuals and teams through journeys of self-discovery, resilience, and lasting success.

Norhaliza holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and an MBA from Bradley University in Illinois, USA. She recently earned an MSc in Organisational and Business Psychology from Kent University, further enriching her coaching expertise with a strong foundation in behavioural science and workplace psychology. She is also an Accredited HRD Corp Trainer.

Dr Eddie Hu Meng Kui

Associate Consultant

Dr. Eddie holds a PhD and an MBA and is a Chartered Banker with nearly three decades of extensive experience in commercial and corporate banking. He actively collaborates with governmental agencies and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to enhance strategic financial management and promote sustainable business growth.

Dr. Eddie is a member of the United Nations ESCAP Sustainable Business Network (ESBN) and has previously served as the Vice-Chair of the Digital Economy Task Force, where he advocated for the integration of digitalisation in economic development for both nations and businesses. He is also the Chief Examiner of Professionalism and Ethics and a member of the Industry and Curriculum Committee at the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB).

Dr. Eddie earned his MBA from the University of Strathclyde, UK, and completed his PhD in entrepreneurship and innovation at Universiti Sains Malaysia. He has also undergone Executive Education in Financial Technology at the University of Cambridge, UK, and is an Accredited HRD Corp Trainer. As an accomplished author, he has published two books: “SME Challenges and Solutions” and “Transforming Family Businesses.” Dr. Eddie is also an active contributor to various publications, providing insights on finance and business. He is proficient in English, Malay, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

Jes Muhammad Izaidin

Associate Consultant

Jes is a 14-year veteran of his sporting discipline having already competed in multiple World Cup, World Qualifying Events, Regional Racing and International Sporting events. He currently serves as the National Technical Director for DH Skateboard with the Malaysia Skate Federation.

Jes’s early career began when he was a TV Presenter with Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) hosting a children's interactive show focusing on arts, culture and technology. Utilising his talents and collective experience, Jes Teaches and shares the Theories, Principles & Concepts of AWARENESS BEFORE CHANGE and the personal change process. A.B.C’s focus is to increase the level of self-awareness. The Collective goal is to touch the Hearts and Minds of Individuals and Inspire them to Change & Achieve.

Jes shares the message and process of personal change to cultivate a better mindset and enable creative tools for success. He strongly believes that by understanding the intricacies of one's own self, a person can overcome limitations, embrace a positive self-image, and achieve both short-term goals & long-term aspirations. Jes currently owns and Operates The Catalyst Network where he Teaches and shares the Theories, Principles and Concepts of AWARENESS BEFORE CHANGE and the personal change process as well as provide creative strategies and solutions with a dynamic approach. He recently completed his TTT and is a Certified HRD Corp Trainer.

Ahmad Fuad Ahmad Zamri

Associate Consultant

Fuad has over 30 years of experience in corporate sectors covering media, property development, insurance, and banking. He has established himself as an Executive & Leadership Coach. His understanding of organisational dynamics and leadership principles makes him the perfect partner and mentor for emerging and established leaders alike.

Fuad specialises in teaching essential coaching skills for leaders and influencing communication techniques, empowering individuals to foster effective collaborations and drive organisational success.

He holds an MSc in Human Resource Management and is a Certified Master Coach. He has also earned certifications as a Certified NLP Coach and Certified NLP Master Practitioner, further enriching his coaching toolkit. As an HRD Corp Accredited Trainer, Fuad is adept at developing tailored training and intervention programmes that resonate with varied audiences. Fuad's extensive background in Human Capital Management and dedication to nurturing leadership capabilities makes him a pivotal resource in the journey towards personal and professional excellence.

Dr Iman Lim

Dr. Iman Lim is a medical doctor and certified Lifestyle Medicine practitioner who focuses on the root causes of commonly overlooked health challenges, particularly, those related to gut health, hormonal imbalances, stress and burnout.

With a foundation in functional medicine, she combines clinical insight with practical, evidence-based strategies that support the body’s natural healing process. Her approach is grounded in deep listening, connection, and helping individuals understand what their body is really trying to communicate.

Known for her discovery-style consultations, Dr. Iman helps clients connect the dots between symptoms, lifestyle habits, and underlying systems. Rather than offering surface-level advice, she works collaboratively to identify meaningful patterns and guide sustainable, personalised change.

Beyond the clinic, she now supports organisations in developing wellness initiatives that are human-centered, actionable, and grounded in real-world outcomes. Hanson Lau (Heng Zheng)

Raianna A. Rahman

Raianna, fondly known as Rai, is a high-impact HRDC Accredited Trainer, Speaker, and Communication Specialist with over 25 years of excellence in Malaysia’s broadcasting and entertainment industry. A versatile television personality and fluently bilingual emcee (English and Bahasa Malaysia), Rai has built a career defined by professional poise, commanding presence, and authentic audience engagement.

Her extensive background includes nearly a decade at Astro Go Shop, where she served as Assistant Vice President and Head of TV Hosts. In this leadership role, Rai mentored Malay and Chinese presenters, shaping the on-air identity of Malaysia’s premier live commerce channel and setting the gold standard for live presentation. Her journey from being the face of iconic brands like McDonald's and Dunhill to leading talent management and scriptwriting has provided her with a 360-degree understanding of high-stakes communication.

Today, Rai leverages her decades of "front-of-camera" experience to empower others through training in personal branding, eloquent communication, and professional presentation.

Known for her charisma and relatability, she bridges the gap between technical broadcasting skills and practical leadership, making her a trusted mentor for those looking to master the art of influential communication and personal branding.
