As founder of iSumio, he developed software enabling organisations to qualify their impact on people and planet, including carbon emissions and labour conditions
His work spans private, public, and social sectors globally, complemented by advisory roles thought leadership on ESG data and social impact investing. With experience at UNDP’s SDG Impact Finance initiative and contributions to OECD and European Commission expert groups, Karl combines technical knowledge with policy insight to advance transparents, data-driven sustainability practices.
Markus Huwener is a renowned expert on the international carbon and renewable energy markets for over 20 years. He advised the German Bundestag and the Federal Ministry of the Environment on the introduction of the Europena Emissioons Trading System in Germany.
With the founding of his own company, First Climate, and his many years as CEO, First Climate developed into one of the largest CO2 asset managers and traders worldwide. Today, he is a sought-after advisor to international financial institutions and investors on all matters related to climate change.
Jone Fleer is Director of Green & Sustainable Finance at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management’s Executive & Professional Education. With more than a decade of experience, he specialises in the design and delivery of executive education and capacity-building programmes in green and sustainable finance. He manages a portfolio of certification courses for finance professionals, which form a core part of Frankfurt School’s Master of Leadership in Sustainable Finance (MLSF).
He has led customised training initiatives for institutions such as IFC, AFD, GIZ, World Bank, GCF, EIB, Commerzbank, and IFAD across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America. As a lecturer and trainer, he contributes to executive education, train-the-trainer programmes, and Frankfurt School’s Summer Academy, while also supervising master’s theses within the MLSF. Jonas Fleer holds a Master’s in International Development Studies from Philipps-Universität Marburg and is a certied expert in Sustainable Finance, Climate Adaptation Finance, and Climate & Renewable Energy Finance.
